Slip sheets were first implemented by large food processors in the 70’s; it has now expanded into most industries and every mode of transportation. The increased usage of the slip sheet is explained by its many advantages, not neglecting lower cost vs. the most widely usage of wood pallets.

Disadvantages of standard slip-sheets:

  • Incapacity to secure the load to the slip-sheet resulting in slippage of goods
  • Slippage of goods outside the slip-sheet
  • Slower handling by lift truck
  • Injuries and loss of goods due to products falling from the slip-sheet
  • Multiple sheets feeding or pick up by pallettizer

Keep in mind that slip sheets being used in high volume manufacturing and distribution, that any problems arising from slippage or even multiple sheets feeding can aggregate into higher costs.
